Staggering reports from Pew and many other organizations give evidence that secularization is proliferating in America. With the Washington Monument in sight, I asked the President and CEO of the Richard Dawkins Foundation, Robyn Blumner, about the burgeoning percentage of nones. Robyn replied,

“It is, it’s incredible, it’s exploding. I mean we really have the wind at our back. I think there’s a combination of factors. One is that people have come to the conclusion that science works, that planes fly and medicine actually cures people and praying doesn’t. So, I think that is an element of it. Also, the scandals in religious institutions, particularly the pedophilia scandal in the Catholic church has really turned off some people. And the fact that regions have become increasingly right wing in their politics and younger people are simply not interested in associating with that kind of philosophy.”

For many, the none phenomena is virtually unknown. But you are likely acquainted with individuals who are religiously unaffiliated.  This none phenomena affects you.  Our prayer is for Christians to know why they believe in the None other (Acts 4.12).  To assist in Christian discipleship, we are developing resources that will target all ages in their quest for faith.
