A message from Jerry and Cristie Jo
We are Jerry and Cristie Jo Johnston. Since our marriage in 1979, we have been grateful for the privilege of serving together in ministry for over four decades in evangelism, the local church, media, and academia. Through the years, we’ve come to deeply value the strength and beauty of partnership in marriage by combining our God-given gifts to encourage growth in families, churches, and leadership teams.
Our years in ministry have allowed us to preach the Gospel in various places globally while ministering in churches throughout America. Our journey has taken us to many interesting places—preaching, teaching, and filming, and other times listening and investigating current social stats. In any situation, we have simply sought to be faithful stewards of the opportunities God has given us to share the Gospel and help others build a strong, enduring faith. Jerry has spoken to more than three million students in schools and on college campuses, a calling that led us to explore the spiritual lives of younger generations and investigate the growing decline in church affiliation and biblical literacy.
That pursuit led us to interview over 100 thought leaders and travel thousands of miles throughout the U.S. and U.K., studying the critical issue of biblical illiteracy. The culmination of that study has become our legacy project: The Power and Influence of Christian Strong.
God has graciously blessed us with a wonderful family: three married children and eleven treasured grandchildren. That blessing has come through intentional effort, prayer, and perseverance. Like many, we’ve faced seasons that tested our faith and required us to fiercely guard what matters most. We understand the daily joys—and challenges—of prioritizing marriage and family in a fast-paced, demanding world.
Every door God has opened to us is a gift. We remain deeply thankful for the opportunity to encourage and train churches, believers, families, leaders, and organizations. Our hearts beat for biblical literacy and for equipping believers to become “Christian Strong”—anchored in truth and a solid biblical worldview, prepared to meet the challenges of today’s world.
